Ranomafana rainforest
RANOMAFANA (hot water, English people would say – this name comes from the thermal springs found in the area )
It is localized at 60km away to the Eastern part of Fianarantsoa
National park near a small warm waterfall, hidden in exuberant vegetation , it possesses one of the largest reserve, primary rainforest of the tropical humid type ; an enormous quantity of endemic plants and trees can be found there.
This park is the only place in Madagascar where four species of rare and elusive diurnal lemurs (Eulemur rubriventer) are easily seen , Milne Edward’s sifaka ( propithecus edwardsi) and two species of bamboo lemur (Hapalemur aureus and Hapalemur simus)
Ranomafana contains a wide variety of endemic birds such as the extremely are slender-billed fluff tail, the Madagascar snipe , Meller’s duck and Rand’s warbler
